Long Island City

Long Island City is a neighborhood located in Queens (part of Queens Community Board 1 north of the Queensboro Bridge and Queens Community Board 2 south of the Bridge) overlooking the East River and Newtown Creek, which separates the neighborhood from Greenpoint in Brooklyn.

A popular place of residence for commuters working in Manhattan, Long Island City is the first neighborhood in Queens east of Midtown. With easy access to Manhattan via the Midtown Tunnel and the Queensboro Bridge, as well as a major subway hub, LIC is a commuter's dream and a bustling industrial commerce center. LIC is home to SculptureCenter, NYC's only non-profit exhibition space for contemporary and innovative sculpture, as well as NYC's first urban beach, Water Taxi Beach. Recently, a number of LIC's industrial buildings have been converted into residential loft condos, and several large-scale residential developments are set to make their debut near the waterfront in the coming years.
