Morningside Heights

Morningside Heights is a neighborhood located in Manhattan bordering Morningside Park, the Upper West Side, Harlem and Riverside Park.

Thanks to its hilltop location (the highest natural point in Manhattan) and sheer density of institutions of higher learning, Morningside Heights is affectionately known as the "Acropolis of New York." But beyond the campuses' columns, the small, quiet neighborhood offers residents a number of residential options, including turn of the century row houses and apartment buildings, as well as more recently-constructed developments. Famous historical sites like the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine and Grant's Tomb can be found in the neighborhood, sitting amidst modern landmarks like Tom's Restaurant on Broadway, the diner immortalized by the television sitcom Seinfeld.
